CBSE Launches First International Office and Centre of Excellence in Dubai

Dubai

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made a significant move to enhance Indian education in the UAE by inaugurating its first international Regional Office (RO) and Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Dubai. This initiative, aimed at elevating educational standards, was officially launched on Teachers’ Day, with representatives from CBSE, the Indian Mission in Dubai, and principals from 78 schools across Dubai and the Northern Emirates in attendance.

The new CBSE office in Dubai will play a critical role in overseeing examinations in the region, while also implementing modern, competency-based education and promoting experiential learning. The Centre of Excellence is expected to provide state-of-the-art training for teachers, equipping them with the latest global educational practices. Innovative teaching techniques, such as sports-based learning, storytelling, and toy-based education, will be introduced to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.

The establishment of the Dubai CBSE Regional Office and Centre of Excellence was first announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 13, 2024, during his visit to the UAE. Operations officially began on July 2, 2024, at the Consulate General of India in Dubai. This marks a new phase in India’s educational outreach, extending the CBSE’s influence beyond its borders to cater to the growing Indian diaspora in the Middle East.

Dr. Ram Shankar, Director of the CBSE RO & CoE in Dubai, emphasized the board’s commitment to aligning new skill-based subjects with global trends and promoting outcome-based education. He stated that the Centre would help schools adopt cutting-edge pedagogical techniques that reflect the demands of a rapidly evolving educational landscape.

Satish Kumar Sivan, Consul General of India in Dubai, praised the initiative, noting the pivotal role the Centre will play in empowering teachers and enhancing the overall learning experience for students in the UAE. With the launch of this office, CBSE seeks to strengthen its educational framework in the region, ensuring that students in Dubai and the Northern Emirates have access to world-class educational resources.
