Britannica Education, the world’s leading company in publishing encyclopedias, has announced plans to extend its footprint in India with over a dozen digital learning solutions aimed at educating all classes of teachers, students, and schools across the country.
As reported, Britannica will release 12 digital products: two products aimed at educators, four targeted for K-12 students, and six designed for schools. All the products are planned to be on a subscription model. The products for teachers focus on the professional skills re-skilling opportunity and feature digital libraries, e-books, and other learning material from kindergarten to 12th grade for the student-centric offerings.
This is exactly in line with India’s shift from traditional rote learning to a more skills-based approach as envisaged by the National Education Policy. These offerings will help the NEP achieve some of the objectives like digital literacy, foundational literacy and numeracy, and the development of 21st-century skills like critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity-all colloquially known as the 4Cs.
The introduction of these digital solutions is blessed by the timing because this is when schools and libraries urgently need tools to introduce digital learning in the classroom.
