India’s victory in the 4-1 series against England propelled them to the pinnacle of the ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings, displacing Australia. Despite a narrow loss in the first Test in Hyderabad by a margin of 28 runs, India bounced back impressively, clinching victories in the subsequent four Tests. Triumphs in Vizag, Rajkot, Ranchi, and Dharamsala have enabled India to reclaim the top spot in the ICC Test Team Rankings.

India’s relentless performance throughout the series has propelled them past Australia, securing them 122 rating points in the rankings table. Australia trails behind at second place with 117 rating points, while England holds the third position with 111 rating points.

Regardless of the outcome of the second New Zealand-Australia Test in Christchurch, India is set to maintain their top position. Despite Australia leading the two-Test series 1-0 after their 172-run triumph in Wellington, the ICC World Test Championship 2023 winners will not surpass India’s current standing.

This achievement places India at the top of the rankings across all three formats. In the ODI rankings, India boasts 121 rating points, closely followed by Australia with 118 rating points. In T20Is, India leads with 266 rating points, while England follows closely behind at second place with 256 rating points.

From September 2023 to January 2024, India held the top spot in the Test Team Rankings until they slipped to second place following a drawn 1-1 series against South Africa. Australia claimed the leading position after sweeping the three-Test series at home against Pakistan. Additionally, India currently leads the ICC World Test Championship Standings table with a points percentage of 68.51.
