The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Government of Maharashtra, through the Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education and National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), was signed Friday, marking a new advanced landmark in technical education in the country.
The programme aims at providing practical education to the student population in tandem with the needs of the industry. It shall begin from Maharashtra, and step by step, be taken to all states of India, giving considerable importance to Polytechnic institutes, ITIs, and the new university developed in the state. This is an excellent opportunity for our youth, particularly for those embracing their careers in the IT sector, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Railways, and Information & Broadcasting, said.
It will also facilitate the development of Centers of Excellence for Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Internet of Things, Industry 4.0, 3D Printing, and other related technologies across the state of Maharashtra in government polytechnics and engineering colleges, which will undertake capacity building and research and development activities. It also envisages funding through joint project proposals submitted to organizations such as MeitY and other government institutions.
Minister Vaishnaw appreciated Maharashtra’s Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Dada Patil for having taken the initiative for these CoEs. ” Mr. Patil spoke about how Maharashtra has an industrial base for well over 100 years, and he wanted to use this as a launch pad to make the youth ready for today’s economy.” He added that this framework “fits well into the New Education Policy through the focus on practical and technical education.”.
Thus, with the availability of infrastructure provided through 40 government and 300 private polytechnics in Maharashtra, the state has the most sought-after network to give impetus to such excellence centers. It is going to put before the student’s tremendous opportunities for the development of their skills and prospects for job placement in this fast-evolving technological world.
The signing ceremony was attended by key officials which included belong Dr. Vinod Mohitkar, Director of Technical Education, and Dr. Pramod Naik, Director of the Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education.
