A major step forward to elevate the financial literacy and employability skills of students, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and Central Board of Secondary Education signed a Memorandum of Understanding. According to this understanding, the two institutions would disseminate skill courses special in commerce streams, in particular, banking, financial services, and insurance sectors. This collaboration therefore aims at bridging the gap created between academic learning and industry requirements through equipping the students with relevant skills for their respective careers in accountancy and finance.

As a part of this end, ICAI shall offer its expertise in the course content, study material, and training modules in appropriately customized forms to the requirements of the CBSE schools. The institute will also organize a set of workshops and training programs for teachers as well as students, focusing on making them aware of the numerous career opportunities in the BFSI as well as the accountancy fields.

Nationwide awareness programs for the principals, teachers, and management teams in association with the CBSE.

These sessions will highlight the value of BFSI-related skill courses and the role they play in shaping students’ career paths. Additionally, the CBSE will focus on capacity-building initiatives designed to improve the competency of teachers in delivering these specialized courses effectively.

ICAI President CA Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal said, “This MoU marks a critical step toward building a strong skill development ecosystem for students across India. By promoting commerce-based skill courses, we are striving to equip the students with industry-relevant competencies and fill up the gap between education and professional demands. This partnership will certainly open up new career paths in accountancy and finance.”

The collaboration falls under a broad effort by ICAI to enhance education and professional development. Already, the institute has signed 85 agreements with universities and educational institutions for fostering academic excellence and research, aiming to develop a workforce capable of meeting the demands of an evolving economy.

Through this strategic initiative, ICAI in association with CBSE is better preparing students for the workforce, ensuring they are prepared with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in these dynamic fields of commerce, accountancy, and finance.
