British Council Launches STEM Scholarships for Women

The educational institutions involved in this initiative encompass Queen Mary University of London, Anglia Ruskin University, Greenwich University, The University of Southampton, and Coventry University.

In partnership with UK universities, the British Council has launched the British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM program. This scholarship is designed specifically for female STEM graduates seeking to pursue their Master’s degrees in the UK.

A total of 25 scholarships are designated for female STEM scholars from India and other South Asian nations. These scholarships are evenly distributed among five UK higher education institutions: Queen Mary University of London, Anglia Ruskin University, Greenwich University, The University of Southampton, and Coventry University.

The scholarship provides coverage for tuition fees, stipends, travel expenses, visa costs, health insurance fees, and English language support. Scholarship recipients have the opportunity to pursue a range of courses, including Data Science, Computer Science, Pharmaceutical Science, Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management, Civil Engineering Management, Intelligent Healthcare, Actuarial Science, and more.

The British Council is seeking women who meet the following criteria:

– Are capable of undertaking a course of study in the UK for the academic year running from September/October 2024 to 2025.

– Can demonstrate financial need for assistance.

– Possess an undergraduate degree that qualifies them for entry into one of the predetermined postgraduate courses at a UK university (for master’s level).

– Can attain the English language proficiency required for postgraduate study at a UK university.

– Are actively involved in their field, having either work experience or a demonstrated interest in their subject area.

– Have a strong passion for their chosen field of study and are committed to contributing as dedicated alumni of the British Council scholarship program.

The aim of this scholarship is to promote the continued participation of young women in STEM fields by aiding their progression towards leadership roles and facilitating networking opportunities with peers both locally and in the UK. Furthermore, the scholarship program welcomes applications from women with dependents, providing additional support. Application deadlines differ according to the university, typically ranging from March to April 2024.
