BITS Pilani Secured the SATHI Project in Collaboration with Cluster Partners

The SATHI (Sophisticated Analytical and Technical Help Institute) project has been awarded to BITS Pilani and its cluster partners by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. This achievement comes with a grant of Rs. 60 crores over the next four years, intended for establishing advanced research facilities at the institute.

According to a press release from the institution, BITS Pilani plans to utilize the funding to establish a sophisticated instrument facility in Pilani, covering various fields of engineering and sciences, including material sciences, device manufacturing and development, and biopharmaceuticals.

This endeavor will be a collaborative effort with cluster partners, including the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research–Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute Pilani, Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur, JK Lakshmipat University Jaipur, Vivekananda Global University Jaipur, and LNM Institute of Information Technology Jaipur.

The instrument facility aims to provide researchers and students not only in Rajasthan but also across the country access to state-of-the-art equipment and resources, fostering innovation and excellence in scientific research.

Prof. Ramgopal Rao, Vice-Chancellor of BITS Pilani, congratulated the faculty team for their efforts in putting together a compelling proposal that stood out among over 35 competing institutions. He also expressed BITS Pilani’s commitment to participating and leading such national initiatives to contribute towards the nation’s goal of Viksit Bharat.

Professor Sudhir Kumar Barai, Director of BITS Pilani, highlighted that the institution’s selection for the SATHI project underscores its excellence in research and development. He emphasized that the grant will empower the institution to establish world-class research facilities, advancing its mission to promote innovation and academic excellence.
