As part of the TWITCH collaboration, which includes Tata Consulting Services, Wipro, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Cognizant, and HCL, efforts are directed towards improving access to technology, curriculum development, pedagogical approaches, and industry best practices in universities.

In a significant collaboration, Apple has launched its iOS Development Lab at Galgotias University in Delhi. The inauguration, held on February 20th, aims to foster innovation and cultivate the next generation of iOS developers, according to a press release.

Last September, the iOS Student Developer program, a joint initiative between industry and academia, was introduced to cultivate high-quality iOS talent in India. Since then, it has expanded to include Galgotias University, underscoring the commitment to nurturing talent in the iOS ecosystem.

The release further specifies that through this partnership, students enrolled in the program gain access to Mac computers, with each team receiving iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches for development and testing purposes. Additionally, they benefit from learning materials provided by Apple and industry best practices shared by Infosys.

The layout of the facility deviates from traditional classrooms, resembling more of a corporate office. Galgotias University elaborates to Joswiak that this design fosters easier interaction between faculty members and students throughout the entire floor.

The iOS Development Lab, equipped with amenities such as 100 iMacs, is positioned to function as a center for innovation and collaboration. It provides students with the opportunity for hands-on learning and practical application of iOS development principles, thus preparing them for success in the constantly evolving tech industry.

“Today marked the grand opening of the iOS Development Lab at Galgotias University in Delhi. I enjoyed meeting with the next generation of iOS developers and witnessing the lab—outfitted with 100 iMacs,” wrote Greg Joswiak, Apple’s Senior Vice President, on X.

Students participating in the program have access to Mac computers, and each team receives iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches for development and testing purposes. They also benefit from learning resources provided by Apple and industry best practices shared by Infosys.

“Working for Apple has been an incredibly inspiring and rewarding experience—for our students, faculty, and leadership team alike at Galgotias. The pursuit of meticulous perfection, attention to intricate details, and the intelligence ingrained in design has been truly enlightening. At Galgotias, we aspire to instill the same ethos within our organization. The insights gained from the iOS Development Centre will extend far beyond its confines, particularly impacting the teaching-learning methodology across the entire university. Recognizing the significance of mentorship and guidance in fostering a culture of active learning among students, we aim to cultivate a global perspective towards problem-solving, preparing them effectively for the challenges of the professional world,” remarked Dhruv Galgotia, CEO of Galgotias University.
