Six nursing professionals from Tripura have been selected to work in Japan under the Specified Skill Workers Scheme. 

Tripura has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Japan to provide more opportunities for nursing professionals from the state.

Tripura Chief Minister, Manik Saha, emphasized the state’s commitment to improving nursing education during a recent ceremony where he felicitated six candidates selected for the Nursing Caregivers program under the Specified Skill Workers Scheme at TIFT. CM Saha expressed his pride in the opportunity provided to these individuals, who will soon embark on careers in Japan’s nursing sector, following training under the Mukhya Mantri Dakhyata Unnayan Prakalpa initiative. 

The Chief Minister highlighted that this collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Japan, marks a significant step in expanding global career prospects for Tripura’s youth. The six nursing professionals, trained in ANM, GNM, and B.Sc. Nursing, will begin their work in Japan after completing a specialized nine-month course in Japanese language skills, essential for effective communication in their new roles. CM Saha underlined that many others have already seized similar opportunities, with more set to follow in the future. 

This initiative, CM Saha noted, reflects a key shift in Tripura’s approach to nursing education. He remarked that nursing is a noble profession that contributes significantly to society and expressed his belief that the success of these candidates will shine a spotlight on Tripura and its educational advancements. By performing their duties diligently and upholding the values instilled in them, these individuals will enhance the reputation of both India and Tripura globally. 

Furthermore, the Chief Minister underscored the importance of continuously improving the state’s nursing education to ensure more youth are equipped for international opportunities, citing the impressive salary prospects of over Rs 1 lakh in Japan as a testament to the value of these roles.
