In collaboration with Springer Nature India, the Indian Council of Social Science Research had launched National Research Tour, its second edition. The participants will get an opportunity to be exposed to world-class resources and knowledge across India for betterment in their research capabilities.
The 30-day tour will cover 17 cities in 9 states in keeping with these themes which would then concentrate on aspects of Research Integrity, Open Access, SDGs, and Equity in Research. At the first day of the research summit, Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, Officiating Chairman of ICSSR, lead off at Jawaharlal Nehru University, keeping in line with the theme of “Research Integrity and its Role in Strengthening Indian Research Output”. This is the first of 26 planned in the course of the tour.
It will take the tour bus to important education establishments with hand-on workshops, training sessions, and insights on new tools of research. Diverse academic points will receive importance through the initiative, with a special focus on Research Integrity, Open Access, and Transformative Agreements.

He underlined that the deal would facilitate the integration of direct access to apex-level knowledge resources to researchers for meaningful contributions in national as well as international academic discourses. Prof. Dhananjay Singh Member Secretary of ICSSR said “This initiative brings vital resources, knowledge, and global best practices directly to the researchers’ desks, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to both national and international academic dialogues.”.
Among its very important goals, the National Research Tour looks to further strengthen research infrastructure through universities and institutes, particularly NITs, IIMs, medical schools, CSIR labs, DST institutes, and leading private universities. All of these would be addressed: further promotion of integrity in research and women researchers through the “Her Research, Our Future” campaign, visibility of SDG-focused research around the globe, and the enrolment of extra Editorial Board Members from India to Springer Nature journals. Only 4.8% of the Editorial Board Members come from India today. After JNU, National Research Tour will head to BITS Pilani, Rajasthan on September 23, 2024.
