Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is the top university in India for the fourth year in a row, according to the current higher education impact rankings. These rankings recognize colleges that excel in achieving specific Sustainable Development Goals. In 2024, a total of 2,152 higher education institutions from 125 countries/regions took part in a comprehensive assessment of their contributions to the United Nations’ SDGs, which evaluated their achievements in research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching. The findings, published during THE’s global sustainable development congress, held in Bangkok from June 10 to 13, underscore Amrita’s consistent leadership in sustainability.

Dr. Maneesha V Ramesh, Provost for Strategic Initiatives, Research, and Innovation at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, was a featured speaker at the event, highlighting the university’s visionary leadership and commitment to sustainable development and innovation.”This demonstrates the vision of world-renowned humanitarian leader and Chancellor Amma, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi, who established the dual goals of lifelong education and compassion-driven research.

The distinction would not have been possible without the tireless work of the students and staff, and I would like to convey my heartfelt gratitude to Times Higher Education for bestowing this honour.
