Professor Dr Abu Yousuf Md Abdullah has been honored with a prestigious title in recognition of his remarkable contributions spanning education, commerce, and society. The honor was bestowed by N Narayana Murthy, an esteemed recipient of the Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awards, during a ceremony held on August 10th at the Bishwa Bangla Auditorium in Kolkata.
The event not only celebrated Professor Dr. Abu Yousuf Md Abdullah’s achievements but also acknowledged the accomplishments of Ratan Tata, the visionary founder of Tata Sons, and Sourav Ganguly, an iconic figure in Indian cricket and former President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Expressing his admiration for Kolkata as a city of love and vitality, Professor Dr Abu Yousuf Md Abdullah highlighted the rich history and traditions of Bengal. He called for strengthened ties between the two Bengals in various aspects, including education, art, culture, trade, and harmony. He extended his gratitude to the University Grants Commission of India and the Government of West Bengal for their support.
Hailing from Satkhira, Bangladesh, Professor Dr Abu Yousuf Md Abdullah embarked on his academic journey as a lecturer at Dhaka University in 1993. After further studies across Europe and America, he returned to Bangladesh with a deep passion for his country. For the past three decades, he has been an esteemed educator in International Business and Marketing at the Institute of Business Administration, Dhaka University.
His groundbreaking contributions include introducing modern marketing concepts to Bangladesh and representing the nation at the World Marketing Summit, where Bangladesh’s Prime Minister and top corporate and policy leaders participated. He co-authored “Essentials of Modern Marketing” with Professor Philip Kotler, incorporating local case studies and launching it in 17 countries. In recognition, he was honored as the ‘Kotler Distinguished Professor of Marketing’ by Professor Philip Kotler in 2023.
Dr Abdullah’s commitment extends beyond education to entrepreneurship, having established ten esteemed educational institutions with a focus on practical and skill-based learning. He is also a prolific author with over 18 published books, including the acclaimed work “Bharat Bhage Banglar Biyogantak Itihas.”
