Usha Martin University was established with the same mission vide Usha Martin University, Jharkhand Act 2012. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission as a self-financing Private University empowered to award certificates, diplomas, and degrees vide letter no. F. 5-3/2017 (CPP-UPU) dated 6th April 2017.
The programmes offered by Usha Martin University (UMU) are also recognised by other regulating bodies, such as the Pharmacy Council of India, the Bar Council of India and the State Nursing Council.
The University is located at village Narayansoso, Ranchi-Purulia highway, Angara Block, Ranchi and has a newly constructed campus spread over 34 acres.

To carry out its mandate of providing inclusive quality higher education in different fields for sustainable development of the society and be in conformity with the priorities of the Ministry of Education, Government of Jharkhand, the University offers a wide range of professional programmes at UG and PG levels.

In addition, Ph.D programmes in Management, Computer Science, Commerce, English, Physics, Education, Chemistry, Pharmacy, Law and Mathematics are also on offer. Building a Different Brand
The University always strives to be the best among already established private universities in Jharkhand by planning and executing the strategies to create a niche by fulfilling all possible administrative and academic mandates as per the UGC & AICTE requirements. After inaugurating the academic programme in 2017, University has already planned and applied for necessary accreditation as per the UGC and AICTE guidelines.
University has also envisaged and complied with the specific requirements of other standardized regulating bodies and received the following approvals as per the standardized mandate:

- Bar Council of India
- State Nursing Council.
The result of the above is that the Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of legal studies and Faculty of Nursing are now running successfully under the umbrella of Usha Martin University.
The student’s enrolments have gone up aforesaid and other programmes as well and also expected to grow manifold in future. Particularly, the Faculty of IT and CS and Faculty of Business Management & Commerce offered Programmes enrolments have gone almost doubled in the previous year.
