The return of Delhi schools is scheduled for Monday, November 20, 2023. The Delhi administration declared that all classes will resume in schools as pollution levels had decreased.

Delhi is getting ready to reopen its schools on Monday, November 20, after the pollution levels significantly decreased. The Delhi government has declared that all grades will resume in person on November 8, 2023. This is a significant change from the previous year, when an early winter break was instituted due to extreme air pollution in the Delhi-NCR.

“It is ordered that all government-recognized, government-aided, and private schools in Delhi resume all classes (from preschool to Std XII) physically starting on Monday, November 20, 2013, in view of current events. However, for the following week following the issuance of this order, morning assemblies and outdoor sporting events will not take place. Accordingly, all parents must be notified well in advance,” the additional directive stated.

The government’s order, which cited better conditions, emphasized the improvement in the Air Quality Index (AQI) and cited IMD/IITM projections that showed no sudden, significant deterioration in Delhi’s air quality. As a result, the earlier order under which the Sub-Committee on GRAP had implemented Stage IV of GRAP was cancelled.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) for Delhi has moved from ‘severe’ to ‘very poor’ following three days of worrying readings. At six in the morning on Saturday, SAFAR recorded an average AQI of 398, which is an improvement.
