In the fiscal year 2023-24, ‘Project Praveen’ extended its reach to include 315 government secondary schools, delivering skill development training to 61,400 students. The Uttar Pradesh government has initiated ‘Project Praveen’, offering skill training to over 61,000 boys and girls throughout the state. This endeavor provides complimentary skill training and contemporary courses designed to equip young individuals for the competitive job market. According to an official statement, ‘Project Praveen’ focuses on students in grades 9 through 12 attending higher secondary schools in the state.

Administered through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Secondary Education and the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission, ‘Project Praveen’ seeks to revolutionize the state’s education system and curriculum. Kapil Dev Aggarwal, the state minister for vocational education, skill development, and entrepreneurship (independent charge), disclosed that ‘Project Praveen’ was launched as a pilot program in the fiscal year 2022-23, providing training to 20,582 students across 150 government secondary schools. Furthermore, the statement noted that 3,450 girl students from Kasturba Gandhi Girls School benefited from the initiative.

In the fiscal year 2023-24, ‘Project Praveen’ extended its reach to encompass 315 government secondary schools, delivering skill development training to 61,400 students. Students in grades 9 through 12 benefit from daily free training alongside their regular studies, focusing on trades aligned with their interests, such as IT, electronics, beauty, healthcare, apparel, and accounting.

All courses provided are nationally certified and approved by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training. Upon completion of training and assessment, students receive certificates recognized nationwide. Within ‘Project Praveen’, students undergo training conducted by certified private training centers located within their schools. These trainers are certified under the Training of Teachers (TOT) program and are registered with the Skill Development Mission.

Certificates acquired through training under ‘Project Praveen’ empower students who discontinue their studies after completing either the 10th or 12th grade to pursue job opportunities. However, eligibility for the scheme necessitates enrollment in government secondary schools and successful completion of either the 10th or 12th grade, it further clarified.
