Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi has introduced a unique five-year Integrated MBA programme, offering students the opportunity to earn two distinct degrees upon successful completion. The programme, a pioneering initiative by the School of Management at IIT Mandi, combines BBA Analytics (Honors) and MBA in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DS and AI), making it the first of its kind among the IITs.
The IMBA programme at IIT Mandi is meticulously crafted to provide students with a holistic understanding of management principles alongside specialized skills in analytics, data science, mathematics, and statistics. The curriculum is designed to nurture future business leaders with a strong technological acumen and cross-functional management capabilities.
In the initial years, students undergo foundational courses in management, analytics, mathematics, statistics, communication, and personality development to enhance critical thinking and creativity. As the programme progresses, students delve into specialized courses that prepare them to leverage technology across various management domains.
The programme at IIT Mandi offers students valuable industry exposure through two internships, including a six-month internship, to familiarize them with diverse business environments. Additionally, students have the opportunity to explore entrepreneurship through access to the institute’s incubation center, fostering a spirit of innovation and enterprise.
The IMBA programme provides flexibility with multiple exit options:
- After three years: BBA Analytics degree
- After four years: BBA Analytics (Honors) degree
- Upon completion of five years: BBA Analytics (Honors) and MBA DS and AI degrees
IIT Mandi’s Director, Prof. Laxmidhar Behera, highlighted the institute’s commitment to aligning with industry requirements.
