An important advancement in technical education has been reported by IIT Kharagpur. The institute has introduced a new certification course called “Hands-on AI for the real-world applications” (HAAI) with the goal of educating a whopping one lakh people about Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies through its national AI Hub – AI for Interdisciplinary Cyber Physical Systems (AI4ICPS).
In partnership with TCS iON, a strategic division of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the course is being introduced.
This course was developed by AI4ICPS, a government agency operating under the auspices of DST, as a component of Nationally Educational Policy 2020 (NEP 2020). The development of the AI course, which has been painstakingly created to satisfy the ever expanding demands of the AI industry and follow NEP 2020 guidelines, was led by Professor VK Tewari, Director of IIT Kharagpur.
Making education accessible to all, encouraging experiential, interdisciplinary learning, improving skills for greater employability, and utilising digital technology for more effective virtual classrooms are some of the proposals.
For this certification process, TCS iON has been brought on as a platform and outreach partner. LMS platform services would be accessible through TCS iON, making it easy to reach out to numerous educational institutions and other niche audiences in India.
Faculty from the computer science, electronics, electrical, and math departments at IIT Kharagpur, as well as TCS scientists, will oversee this three-month programme, which will be held over the weekends.
It guarantees 100 hours of experiential learning, industry exposure, modular exams, discussion rooms, in-person question-and-answer sessions, a certificate of merit for the top 1%, and the opportunity to speak with business experts.
Additionally, the curriculum includes advice from AI4ICPS on resume preparation.
The course starts on September 2 and ends on December 2 of the same year. It is available to new graduates, people pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees, working professionals looking to change jobs to become AI/ML engineers, and people with some experience in programming who want to pursue careers in IT.
