Mpox Detected in India: Traveler from Affected Region Tests Positive

First Case:  A traveler returning to India from an affected country has tested positive for mpox (formerly known as monkeypox). 

International Origin:  The individual recently traveled from a country experiencing an outbreak of mpox. 

Symptoms Identified:  The traveler showed typical mpox symptoms, including fever, skin lesions, and swollen lymph nodes. 

Quarantine Measures Upon testing positive, the patient was immediately isolated to prevent further transmission. 

Contact Tracing:  Authorities are conducting rigorous contact tracing to identify and monitor individuals who may have been in contact with the traveler. 

Health Advisories Issued:  Indian health authorities have issued advisories for travelers coming from mpox-affected regions to report symptoms promptly. 

Vaccination Efforts:  Discussions are underway about increasing access to mpox vaccines, especially for high-risk groups and travelers.
