Chandigarh University (CU) has commenced its three-day Global Education Summit (GES-2023) with the participation of academic leaders, including vice-chancellors, presidents, and top officials from over 40 universities across 30 countries.
The participating countries include the UK, the USA, Australia, Canada, Ireland, Italy, Russia, South Africa, Ethiopia, Malaysia, Thailand, Bangladesh, Nepal, Kazakhstan, Japan, and Uzbekistan, among others. The summit, held on the theme ‘Creating Professional Leaders for One Earth, One Family, One Future,’ features both in-person and virtual participation, with 20 academic leaders attending in person and 27 others virtually.
The inaugural session was attended by Md Sabur Khan, Founder and Chairman of Daffodil International University, and Anju Ranjan, the President of the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP), Bangladesh, and the Deputy Director General of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
The first day of the summit featured sessions on topics such as global collaborations in higher education for achieving sustainable development goals. Prof Sibrandes Poppema, Md Sabur, and Kai Peters chaired the session. Additionally, on the sidelines of the summit, several universities formalized partnerships, resulting in collaborative research initiatives, student exchange programs, and joint academic projects.
These agreements set the stage for future global collaborations in education and research. The GES-2023 at Chandigarh University aims to facilitate dialogue and collaboration among academic leaders from around the world, fostering partnerships and initiatives to address global challenges and contribute to sustainable development goals.
